Description

Mike Greenbeauer is accident prone. Not silly little things, but serious stuff that could kill a person; and not because he’s inept, but because he lives so fast and so hard that sometimes he doesn’t have time to duck. Lynn Greenbeauer has one speed. Fast enough to keep up with Mike, and steady enough to keep a cool head while nursing him back to health. One time while cutting down a tree with which he planned to build his house, the tree spun around and kicked, catching him square in the chest, knocking him thirty feet in the air. That’s when he decided to build with bricks. Another time, he tripped while racing his son Andrew to the orchard and drove a broken limb through the bottom of his chin, clear into his mouth. He falls off ladders, off roofs, got kicked in the tailbone by an angry bull and was off his feet for weeks; had a loaded wagon fall on top of him but he was rescued before it was to late thank goodness. They said the sound of the air getting pushed out of his lunges sounded like geese. Overall, the amount of helpful work Mike and Lynn do around the village is well balanced by the amount of time spent convalescing, but always worth it says Mike.
